DISASTER RELIEF INFORMATION
Unfortunately, all too often, there are instances of national or worldwide disasters. Moraine Township, however, is part of a caring community that responds when others are in trouble. To that end, as a mainstay of local emergency aid, the Township has often stepped up to offer a means for people to reach out. Whether we use donations directly, or pass them on to other organizations, the Township stands ready to respond to the generous nature of its citizens, and for their convenience, accepts their donations as a conduit for a variety of causes. Our status as a government body, and the 501(c)(3) nonprofit status of our Community Chest/Food Pantry qualify your donations for tax exemption.
Locally, our office provides emergency assistance and General Assistance to residents in need. Consult the Supervisor's webpages for further information.
During the Katrina crisis for our countrymen in New Orleans in 2005, Moraine Township accepted donations of cash and passed them along via the Highland Park Community Foundation.
Following the hurricane that devastated Haiti in 2010, Moraine Township linked to City of Highland Park efforts in fundraising and other forms of assistance. Here is an online link to follow for continuing information on Haiti relief.
