MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING
January 26, 2008

Supervisor Barnes called to order a Special Meeting of the Moraine Township Board of Trustees at 9:34 a.m. on Saturday, January 26 at 3500 Western Avenue, Highland Park, Illinois. The following members were present: Trustees Bryna Gamson, Margot Moreno, Cynthia Plouché, and Jeff Zaluda. Also Present: Director General Assistance Tracy Coleman; Chief Deputy Assessor Trish Lenzini; Deputy Assessor Mark McCraren and community member Harold Rafson. Clerk Ellen Gussin was absent.

Tour of 3500 Western Avenue, Highland Park, Illinois
The owner of the building, Al Speisman, led the group on a tour of the building at 3500 Western Avenue, Highland Park for the Board’s consideration as a potential site for the Township offices. The following items were noted during the tour:
  •the building is not ADA compliant
  •there is currently a single tenant in the building, but the lease expiration date is not known
  •the site provides safer ingress/egress than Central Avenue
  •on-site parking is more than ample
  •the building contains garage space for both Township vans
  •public transportation is conveniently located to the site, although concern was expressed that those traveling to the site by bus or train may have to cross the railroad tracks (at Fort Sheridan)
  •the basement of the building has fire sprinklers
  •there is a freight elevator providing access from the loading dock to the basement
  •many mechanicals had recent certification/inspection notices
  •average heating and cooling costs, cost of upkeep and liability are unknowns at this time

The owner provided a set of plans and a site survey for review, which he asked be returned to him

With no further business to conduct, Trustee Plouché moved, seconded by Trustee Gamson, the meeting be adjourned at 10:13 a.m. Motion carried.
