MINUTES OF CEMETERY BOARD MEETING
May 13, 2010

The meeting was called to order at 4:21 PM by Supervisor Barnes and upon roll call the following members were present: Trustees Dwayne Douglas, Bryna Gamson, Margoth Moreno, and Jackie Schechter. Also Present: Clerk Ellen Gussin and Shannon Mosier.

Supervisor Barnes explained that the reason she called the meeting was to discuss the 2010 improvement projects for Mooney Cemetery. She has the Rules and Regulations for both Mooney and Daggitt Cemeteries, approved by the Moraine Township Board of Directors on October 30, 1997, and will distribute to the Board of Trustees.

Dr. Tim Horsley, Archaeological Geophysicist, has been engaged to survey the cemetery, utilizing three techniques including ground-penetrating radar, magnetometry, and earth resistance. He will provide us with a written report of results as well as images of the raw and processed data within six weeks of the fieldwork for a cost of $5,500 to $6,000 to be completed in June or July. The Township will then know how many graves are actually in the ground and how many spaces may be left.

The Township has purchased a new computer to be dedicated to processing and maintaining all cemetery records. There is currently a moratorium on all burials unless someone comes in with a previously purchased deed for a burial of a just-deceased family member. Supervisor Barnes suggested temporarily instituting a $250 non-refundable fee for such an occurrence; this was so moved by Trustee Gamson, seconded by Trustee Douglas; motion passed.

The Cemetery Board will meet again in the fall after the survey results are received to determine what changes should be made to the Rules and Regulations as well as to review any further improvements needed.

With no further business to discuss, Trustee Moreno moved, seconded by Trustee Schechter, that the meeting be adjourned at 4:59 PM.
