Public Comment

Action Items
Mooney Cemetery
Trustee Schechter read an email dated August 16 from the Landscape Architect Nancy Hannick regarding the bids received for plantings along the road and the possibility of pursuing a grant. The Board wanted to wait for Supervisor Barnes' presence before authorizing any of the details. Trustee Gamson commented that her daughter, who has expertise in this field, advises that the long-term results of installing pervious asphalt have not proven to be worth the extra expenditure.

Van Transportation Program
Trustee Gamson had distributed an edited policy draft as discussed at the last meeting. The Trustees agree with the edits but wanted to wait for Supervisor Barnes' return before approving. Trustee Douglas will advise on the wording for insertion of a Hold Harmless clause.

Neither Trustees Douglas nor Moreno have heard from the Chairperson Paul Martinez and suggested that Supervisor Barnes follow up with him. The Board is unaware of what may or may not be going on and yet there is so much potential.

There are a lot of families involved in the garden this season, according to Sam Piro. Harvesting will be in full activity soon.

Trustee Gamson advised that there will be a free workshop entitled Achieve Fund Raising Success on October 5 open to any of the not-for-profits in the community that want to learn more about grant writing and more. Donors Forum, Executive Service Corps, and Lake County Community Trust will all send individuals who will offer advice and guidance. The program will take place at the Police Department's public meeting room from 9:30 to 11:30 AM.

Lake County Coordinated Transportation Services Committee (LCCTSC)
Trustee Gamson and Supervisor Barnes have been trying to build relationships among providers in Moraine Township's quadrant of Lake County. To that end, there will be a first meeting of transportation providers and PACE to discuss the gaps in services and try to collaborate on how efficiencies can be achieved on October 10 at Police Department from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. The meeting is entitled Transit Forum: Options for Paratransit Collaboration to Meet the Needs of Southeast Lake County.
