MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING

May 22, 2014, 7:00 PM

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m., and upon roll call the following members were present: Trustees Dwayne Douglas, Cindy Wolfson and Amy Zisook. Absent: Supervisor Anne Flanigan Bassi and Trustee Olga Gomez Aguilar. Also Present: Clerk Gail Feiger Brown, Madeline Brown (videographer), Janet Freed, and Kristin Lerner and Denise Tiemeyer (Oak Terrace PTA) .

Agency Presentation
Kristin Lerner and Denise Tiemeyer, Oak Terrace PTA
In FY 2013-2014, Oak Terrace Elementary School PTA received a grant for Moraine Township for its TASK (The After School Kids) program. The PTA did not apply for a grant for FY 2014-2015; tonight's presentation to the Trustees served to report on the use of the FY 2013-2014 grant. TASK is an after-school program offering all students academic enrichment and physical activity classes, five days a week. 76% of Oak Terrace students fall below federal poverty line; Moraine Township's grant helped fund scholarships for 21 students for this program. TASK is popular with students and appreciated by parents as quality and affordable after-school child care.

Trustee Zisook moved, seconded by Trustee Wolfson, approval of the Regular Meeting Minutes of May 8, 2014. Voting Aye: Trustees Douglas, Wolfson and Zisook; Voting Nay: None; Absent: Supervisor Bassi and Trustee Aguilar.

Approval of Bills
Trustee Wolfson moved, seconded by Trustee Zisook, approval of the bills May 1-15, 2014: $42,249.20 Town Fund, $11,279.95 General Assistance. Voting Aye by Roll Call Vote: Trustees Douglas, Wolfson and Zisook; Voting Nay: None; Absent: Supervisor Bassi and Trustee Aguilar.

  • Food Pantry Report Amy Zisook
  • The US Postal Food Drive took place on May 10. Many bags of groceries were delivered by mail carriers to the food pantry and sorted by volunteers. On May 15, community members met at the office to discuss hunger issues affecting students in District 112 and 113 schools. In response to an email request, residents donated large quantities of breakfast food. Some will be donated now, some over the summer and some when school resumes in the fall.

New Business
Thanks to Northwood Junior High School for raising money for the Community Chest through a dodgeball tournament. On May 19, Trustees Wolfson and Zisook attended a school assembly and accepted a check for $1,006.07.

With no further business to conduct, Trustee Wolfson moved, seconded by Trustee Zisook , the meeting be adjourned at 7:24 PM. Motion carried.
