MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING

May 8, 2014, 5:00 PM

The meeting was called to order at 5:05 PM, and upon roll call the following members were present: Supervisor Anne Flanigan Bassi; Trustees Olga Gomez Aguilar, Dwayne Douglas, Cindy Wolfson and Amy Zisook. Also Present: Clerk Gail Feiger Brown.

Public Comment
There were no comment from the public.

Approval of Minutes
Trustee Wolfson moved, seconded by Trustee Zisook, approval of the Regular Meeting Minutes of April 24, 2014. Voting Aye: Supervisor Bassi, Trustees Aguilar, Douglas, Wolfson and Zisook; Voting Nay: None.

Trustee Wolfson moved, seconded by Trustee Douglas, approval of the Executive Session Minutes of March 13, 2014. Voting Aye: Supervisor Bassi, Trustees Aguilar, Douglas, Wolfson and Zisook; Voting Nay: None.

Approval of Bills
Trustee Douglas moved, seconded by Trustee Zisook, approval of the bills April 16-31: $43, 970.65 Town Fund, $9,918.27 General Assistance. Voting Aye by Roll Call Vote: Supervisor Bassi, Trustees Aguilar, Douglas, Wolfson and Zisook; Voting Nay: None.

  • No report.

  • Supervisor's Report Anne Flanigan Bassi
    • The Monthly report of Moraine Township services was distributed to the Trustees.
    • Staff was praised for their extra efforts with the van and food pantry. Volunteers have been helping with the additional responsibilities for the food pantry resulting from the donated produce.
    • Moraine Township received a $2,081 dividend from TOIRMA, lowering our total insurance costs to $11,893 for all insurance.
    • Congratulations to Trustees Wolfson and Zisook for their participation in a forum for female elected officials.
    • A draft of a May one-page English/Spanish information sheet on Township services was shown to the Trustees. It will be to be mailed to Highwood, Deerfield and Lake Forest Moraine Township residents who don't receive the insert that will be in the May issue of the City of Highland Park Highlander.


  • Latino Advisory Committee Report Olga Gomez Aguilar
  • The Committee will hold its next meeting on May 29.

  • Food Pantry Report Amy Zisook
  • On May 15, several interested community members will gather at the Township to discuss hunger issues in the Township. May 10 is the Postal Food Drive. Volunteers, staff and elected s will be at the office to assist with deliveries from mail carriers.

  • Pantry Plants Garden Report Anne Flanigan Bassi
  • May 10 is prep work repairing fences. May 17 is garden planting day, 9 am to 12 p.m. Twenty families referred by the Lake County Health Department will have their own plots. Anton's Foods will again be a partner with the Township by donating plants.

  • Lake County Coordinated Transportation Services Committee (LCCTSC) Amy Zisook
  • The Southeast quadrant group met last week.

  • Community Family Center (CFC) Report
  • No report.

  • Human Relations Commission Report Gail Feiger Brown
  • Clerk Brown attended her first meeting as Moraine Township Liaisonon May 1. The Commission reviewed Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Moraine Township's role, and other ongoing programs.

New Business
Supervisor Bassi raised the issue Moraine Township's participation in the Fourth of July parade. After discussion the Board decided to participate in the parade. Trustee Zisook will address the details of the event.

Adjournment
With no further business to conduct, Trustee Douglas moved, seconded by Trustee Aguilar, the meeting be adjourned at 5:52PM. Motion carried.
