Moraine Township

February 8, 2018, 7:00 PM

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m., and upon roll call the following members were present: Supervisor Anne Flanigan Bassi, Trustees Dwayne Douglas and Amy Zisook. Absent: Trustees Pablo Alvarez and Cindy Wolfson. Also present: Clerk Gail Feiger Brown.

Public Comment
There was no comment from the public.

Approval of Minutes
Trustee Zisook moved, seconded by Trustee Douglas, to approve the Regular Board Meeting Minutes of January 25, 2018. The motion passed unanimously by voice vote.

Approval of Bills
Trustee Douglas moved, seconded by Trustee Zisook, approval of the bills for the period January 24-February 6, 2018 in the following amounts: $6,180.66 General Assistance Fund, $31,932.06 Town Fund. Voting Aye by Roll Call Vote: Supervisor Bassi, Trustees Douglas and Zisook; voting Nay: none.

  • Amendments to Employee Handbook
  • Trustee Douglas moved, seconded by Trustee Zisook, Amendments to Employee Handbook: Sexual Harassment Policy, Electronic Timekeeping Procedures, and Nepotism Policy--definition of a relative. Voting Aye by Roll Call Vote: Supervisor Bassi, Trustees Douglas and Zisook; voting Nay: none.

  • Supervisor's Report Anne Flanigan Bassi
    • Supervisor Bassi distributed to Trustees a service report for the fifteen month period November, 2016 through January, 2018.
    • The City of Highland Park is convening neighborhood meetings featuring governmental entities in Highland Park. Supervisor Bassi and Trustees will represent the Township at the meetings.
    • Electronic timekeeping has been implemented.
    • Supervisor Bassi was informed by Lake County Clerk Carla Wyckoff that the CPI index is 2.1% in 2018.
    • Supervisor Bassi Anne spoke at Highwood City Council meeting on February 6 on the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). Supervisor Bassi, Clerk Brown, Administrator Debi Gordon, and Staff Linda Contreras and Lupe Somerville are all certified for the Passport Application Acceptance Program.

    • Permit notes have been reviewed and permits have been resubmitted.
    • Thanks to Jon Levey and Highland Park Bank and Trust for their $5,000.00 contribution to the Click to Equip registry.
    • To date, $40,194 has been contributed to the registry.
    • Supervisor Bassi distributed and reviewed with Trustees a cashflow report for the Township.

  • Food Pantry Report Anne Flanigan Bassi
    • Thanks to Braeside School, Elm Place School and Lincoln School for holding Super Bowl food drives for the Pantry.
    • Supervisor Bassi and Trustee Wolfson presented the Township Resolution recognizing Sunset Foods to John Cortesi and Frank Lomoro on February 5 at the Sunset Foods office.
    • The postal drive will be held May 12. Supervisor Bassi is negotiating with Sunset Foods to sponsor shopping bags to be delivered by mail carriers to residents.

With no further business to conduct, Trustee Douglas moved, seconded by Trustee Zisook, that the meeting be adjourned at 7:40 p.m. The motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
