Annual Town Meeting

Moraine Township

The following are proceedings of the Annual Town Meeting of Moraine Township, County of Lake, State of Illinois, on the 11th day of April, 2006.

The meeting was called to order by Ellen S. Gussin, Town Clerk, at 6:35 P.M.

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited.

The list of attendees at the meeting is attached. [contact Township Clerk]

Tracy Coleman moved, seconded by Patti Powers, Janet Freed serve as Moderator. Nominations were closed. Motion carried.

The oath of Moderator of the Town Meeting was given to Janet Freed by Clerk Gussin, and she was sworn in as same.

Minutes of the Annual Meeting of April 12, 2005 were read; with no additions or corrections the minutes stand approved as written.

Assessor Peter Koukos reported a 12.5% increase in the EAV (Equalized Assessed Valuation.)

Supervisor Mari Barnes read the unaudited Supervisor's Statement of Financial Affairs for fiscal year April 1, 2006 through March 31, 2006.

Resident Suzanne Cahnmann introduced a Resolution (see attached) [contact Township Clerk] calling for an advisory referendum to be authorized by the State of Illinois Legislature to be on the November 2006 ballot to eliminate (as has been enacted in other states) the need to request a specific party ballot in order to vote in a Primary Election. She moved, seconded by Leonard Cahnmann, acceptance of the resolution. Motion carried.

The next Annual Town Meeting will be held April 10, 2007 in the Township office. Cynthia Plouché moved, seconded by Mari Barnes, that the meeting be held at 6:00 P.M. Motion carried.

Clerk Ellen Gussin thanked Janet Freed for serving as Moderator.

There being no further business to conduct, Peter Koukos moved, seconded by Mari Barnes, the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried, and the meeting adjourned at 6:59 P.M.
