MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
February 9, 2006
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 PM, and upon roll call the following members were present: Supervisor Mari Barnes; Trustees Bryna Gamson, Margoth Moreno, Cynthia Plouché and Jeff Zaluda. Also Present: Assessor Peter Koukos; Clerk Ellen Gussin; Director General Assistance Tracy Coleman; Janet Freed, community member.
Approval of Minutes
Trustee Zaluda moved, seconded by Trustee Plouché, approval of the Regular Meeting Minutes of January 26. Motion carried.
Approval of Bills
Trustee Zaluda moved, seconded by Trustee Moreno, approval of the bills. Upon roll call, motion carried.
Board Discussion with Attorney Larry Clark
Board welcomed Moraine Township Attorney Larry Clark and thanked him for coming to the meeting. He explained his role as General Counsel to the township.
Budget Discussion
Refer to separate meeting minutes from today's date that immediately preceded this meeting.
Public Comment
None
Supervisor's Report
Township office had a heating emergency in the past weeks, and the landlord is covering the cost of repairs in the building.
Many people have been applying for position of Driver for the new van. Extensive background checks will be done before hiring anyone. City will provide outdoor space at the Public Works building on Route 22 for overnight storage of the van.
Potential township logo was passed around again.
Assessor's Report
Hearings are continuing. PTAB (Property Tax Appeals Board) is scheduled for week after next to hear appeals from 2002, 2003, and 2004 tax years. All lakefront appeals will be heard next Thursday and Friday. A luncheon to celebrate Sally Peddle's being in the Assessor's office for 20 years will be held on Wednesday, February 15.
Committee Reports
Trustee Moreno will continue to try to help out the citizens at North Shore Estates.
Trustee Zaluda discussed the efforts for the Community Family Center.
The new county health clinic in Highland Park will be open in May, 2006.
Trustee Gamson is recruiting members for the Grant Committee to consist of about five citizens.
Food Pantry is well stocked. Congregation Solel conducted a very successful drive on the township's behalf last Sunday and stocked the shelves downstairs; they will be bringing more items on Friday.
Postal Drive for food will be the second Saturday in May this year.

With no further business to conduct, Trustee Zaluda moved, seconded by Trustee Plouché, the meeting be adjourned at 5:46 PM. Motion carried.
