Assessor’s Report
Chief Deputy Assessor Trish Lenzini reported that all is on schedule in the Assessor’s Office.

Supervisor’s Report
Supervisor Barnes reported that volunteer Ada Goldstein, who had previously worked in Social Services in Cook County, suggested developing a Community Resource Guide. She brought in the Table of Contents for the Board to consider. A suggestion was made to develop and publish such a guide on-line to avoid printing costs and outdated material.

Chief Deputy Trish Lenzini suggested that Moraine Township consider sending a welcome letter to all new Moraine Township residents as they purchase/move in to their homes. West Deerfield Township has been doing this, and the Board thought this was worthy of further consideration.

Supervisor Barnes distributed a comparative tax rate sheet for 2006 showing the percent levied for the Township compared to various other entities in the County including the schools.

Supervisor Barnes also reported on the letter received from State’s Attorney Michael Waller regarding the Tax Objection filed against Lake County taxing districts for taxing years 2004 and 2005 for the General Assistance Fund; the letter also discusses the proposed settlement.

Committee Reports
Food Pantry – Postal Drive is this Saturday, May 12; Trustee Moreno reported that we have quite a few volunteers on board to help with the unloading of the trucks from 2:30 PM on.

Transportation – Trustee Gamson reported on the meeting she had attended today. Consultants hired, in part due to the efforts of the Lake County Coordinated Transportation Coalition/LCCTC, met today with stakeholders to begin the process of making Lake County's case for funding support. The federal funds sought under JARC and New Freedom titles would be managed by the RTA. (Funds are of interest to members of "Getting to Work Lake County" and LCCTC, whose mission is to secure seamless, reliable public transportation, including but not limited to senior/handicapped transportation.

Newsletter – Trustee Gamson reported that the next newsletter is almost complete. She is making progress on updating the Township’s web design as well.

Old Business
Trustee Moreno expressed her personal concerns about the grants that were awarded last month and her fear that the Township might have slighted some worthy candidates; she felt more reassured when she was reminded that some seemingly modest dollar amounts awarded were the full amounts requested by the respective agencies, not an effort to limit the Township’s support for them. Her concern is for adequate counseling, social work, and medical services for the Latino community and the manner in which clients are treated by the agencies. A suggestion was made to create a new Citizens Advisory Committee to explore establishing an advocacy group supportive of the Latino community.

New Business
None

Adjournment
With no further business to conduct, Trustee Moreno moved, seconded by Trustee Plouché, the meeting be adjourned at 6:18 PM. Motion carried.

Respectfully submitted,
