Moraine Receives Transportation Grant from Healthcare Foundation
Supervisor Mari Barnes is pleased to announce that once again the Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park has awarded $35,000 to help underwrite costs of medical appointment trips for low income seniors and disabled residents using the Township's award-winning Moraine Door-to-Door paratransit van service.
"It is certainly gratifying to have our senior/disabled resident transportation program recognized year after year. The Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park has become a true partner in providing needed medical appointment transportation service support to our residents with limited financial means," commented Barnes.
"We are very grateful to the Foundation."
Moraine Door-to-Door was established by Supervisor Barnes to address the problem of costly transportation for seniors and disabled residents needing to access medical practitioners with offices located beyond Township boundaries. Qualified riders, along with caregivers at no extra cost, are taken up to fifteen miles beyond Township borders to medical appointments for just $4 per trip in one of two vans leased from Pace and operated by Moraine Township.
