Moraine Township property owners can expect to see 2018 Assessment notices (also known as the “Blue Letter”) should be mailed to property owners and published in the Highland Park News, June 14, 2018. If property owners do not agree with the amount assessed for their property, by statute they have only thirty days from the date of publication to file an appeal. The last day a property owner may file an appeal of their 2018 Assessment is July 16, 2018.

Moraine Township Assessor Cynthia Plouché encourages Township residents to visit her office at 777 Central Avenue, Highland Park with assessment questions (or call 847-432-2100). She and her staff are eager to help residents understand their assessment, answer questions on exemptions, and provide the resources residents need to evaluate their assessment and file an appeal.

Below is some information property owners may find helpful in understanding their assessment.

  • Homestead exemptions that were received on the previous tax bill
  • Township Assessor contact information

  • Visit assessor.lakecountyil.gov, to review assessment information including property characteristics, comparable property information, and the e-filing process.
  • Discuss any questions on your assessment value or property information with the Assessor's office. Visit the office at 777 Central Avenue in Highland Park, or call 847-432-2100.
  • Complete an assessment appeal form (by paper, or electronically using the e-filing system) and submit with supporting evidence to the Board of Review by the prescribed deadline.

  • Should you decide to file a formal appeal of your assessment with the Board of Review, the Assessor’s office can help you understand the documentation you will need to file the appeal using the Lake County Comparable Grid found at assessor.lakecountyil.gov, or other materials such as appraisals or sales documents.
  • You will be notified of your scheduled hearing and have the option of attending the hearing in person, by telephone, or submit case materials and ask the Board of Review to decide the case based on the evidence provided.
  • For further information call Moraine Township at 847-432-2100 or email CPlouche@moraineassessor.org.
