Moraine Township Hosts Program "Achieve (Local) Fund Raising Success"
Moraine Township will host "Achieve (Local) Fund Raising Success", a free "brown bag lunch" program for nonprofit organizations interested in improving their success in fund raising, with an emphasis on local grant-makers, on Friday, October 10 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Highland Park Police Station located at 1677 Old Deerfield Road. Cooperating local organizations who make annual grants will explain their requirements; and tips on obtaining sharper, broader skills in fund raising will be covered. All nonprofit agencies in the region are welcome to attend, but must RSVP by October 6 by calling the Township Office at (847) 432-3240. Space is limited. Special parking has also been arranged in unpaved areas of the SBC lot east of the Police Station.
The program will feature a special presentation by Marissa Filippo, Nonprofit Programs Manager of the Donors Forum of Chicago. Filippo will provide an orientation to Donors Forum resources -- both at their Chicago location research library and outlying Philanthropy Centers, including one at CLC in Grayslake. Her orientation covers how to use the Forum Library to research foundations and other prospective donors. In addition, Filippo will acquaint participants with Donors Forum training workshops on topics such as grant writing, Board development, budgets, cultivating individual donors, and more.
Local groups helping to plan this program include the Highland Park Community Foundation, The Rotary Club of Highland Park/Highwood and Welfare Council of Highland Park/Highwood of the United Way North Shore. Additional representation will be available from the City of Highland Park's Cultural Arts and Human Relations Commissions, the Healthcare Foundation of Highland Park and YEA! Highland Park.
Program attendees will be given packets containing information about local funder procedures, as well as handouts on online and Donors Forum resources.
Dessert and beverages will also be provided.
This program was initiated by the Moraine Township Citizen Grant Advisory Committee, to increase the skills and success rates of local nonprofit agencies in obtaining funding. The Committee makes grant recommendations annually to the Township Board of Trustees. Last year, grants from the Township totalled $101,000.
