Moraine Township Supervisor Mari Barnes has proclaimed Saturday, May 13
as "Family Volunteer Day" in support of the Township's Food
Pantry. Volunteers of all sizes and skills are encouraged to put
on their working shoes and offer willing hands, hearts and backs to two
satisfying activities.
First is a new "Pantry Plants" garden project, creating a garden to
supply the Pantry with fresh produce. Planting is scheduled to
begin at 10 A.M. and will continue until everything is planted at
Woodridge Park (south end of Barberry Road, Highland Park).
Anton's in Highland Park is
donating supplies, and the Park District of Highland Park is allowing
use
of their park. Volunteers are asked to bring their own tools.
Rain
date for planting is Saturday May 20,10:00 A.M.
The other activity is stocking the shelves at the Township Food Pantry
as donated supplies are brought in by U. S. Postal Service workers at
the
conclusion of their collection drive on May 13. Help stock the
shelves
from the Postal Service Food Drive from 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at
the
Moraine Township Office and Pantry, 777 Central Avenue, Highland Park.
