Moraine Township Seeks Latino Advisory Committee Applicants

At their August 28 meeting, the Moraine Township Board of Trustees adopted a set of guidelines describing mission and purpose of a new Citizen Latino Advisory Committee, under consideration since last spring. Any qualified local resident interested in volunteering to serve is invited to submit his/her name to the Supervisor, Mari Barnes, for consideration.

The mission of the Citizen Latino Advisory Committee is to "enhance the ability of the Moraine Township Board of Trustees to make informed policy decisions regarding the local Latino community, and to encourage Latino residents to become involved in local government."

Initially, the committee will be comprised of from five to seven members, most of whom (3 to 5) must reside in Moraine Township. Additionally, one or two business representatives who may or may not reside in the Township will be appointed. The committee may choose to add local youths under 18 years old in addition to the total of seven members.

Committee members will be joined by two Trustees appointed as liaisons, Margoth Moreno and Cynthia Plouché.

It is anticipated that this committee will function much like the Citizen Grant Advisory Committee, meeting periodically, and bringing matters of import regarding circumstances and issues in the local community to the attention of the Township Board.

For further information, and to apply, contact Mari Barnes at (847) 432-3240 or email Consult the Township's website for complete guidelines, published at
