2015 Property Tax General Assessment Year

Moraine Township Assessor expects 2015 assessment notices (aka the "Blue Letter") to be mailed August 19, 2015; projected publication date in the Highland Park News on August 20, 2015. If property owners do not agree with the amount assessed for their property, they have only thirty days from the date of publication to file an appeal, so if the publication date is August 20, 2015, the last day to file objections will be September 21, 2015. Residential properties will have fourteen (14) days from that date in which to file appraisals and commercial/industrial properties will have thirty (30).

The 2015 Assessment will reflect the market activity in smaller specific areas and neighborhoods within the Township. By law, every four years the Township Assessor must review and reassess all property in their jurisdiction to reflect

"Illinois State Statutes require the Assessor's office to review sales data for the past three years and adjust assessments as needed," notes Moraine Township Assessor Cynthia Plouché.
