OTHER PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTIONS

General Homestead Exemption

If your property is your primary residence, and you have lived on the property on or before January 1 of the tax year, you are entitled to a $8,000 reduction of your assessed valuation ($24,000 fair market value reduction). If you are eligible for this exemption and it is not reflected on your tax bill, please contact Moraine Township Assessor office 847-432-2100.

Homestead Improvement Exemption

If an improvement or addition is made to the home, the assessment increase due to the alteration is kept off the tax rolls for four years. There is a maximum of $25,000 of assessed value ($75,000 of market value) which can be kept off the tax rolls for that period.
